Power Restoration Complete After Winter Storm
At about 10:30 last night, Suwannee Valley Electric Cooperative (SVEC) completed restoration of service to its consumers who lost power due to the winter storm. Broken tree limbs on power lines caused most outages.
“Electricity is a huge part of our modern lives, and it can be frustrating when it’s not available,” said SVEC, CEO, Mike McWaters. “That’s why we are so grateful for the patience and support shown to us by our members after storms like this one.”
Beginning early Wednesday morning, crews from SVEC, mutual-aid cooperatives, and contractors traveled thousands of miles throughout SVEC’s territory to restore over 600 outages that affected about 22,000 consumers.
“I wish more people could fully understand how dedicated our employees are to the welfare of our members,” said McWaters. “They know that people can suffer during extended outages, and they work extremely hard to get the power back on as quickly as possible.”
