SVEC partners with Seminole Electric Cooperative, our wholesale power provider, to help our members tap into solar energy for their homes without the headaches of installing and maintaining solar panels themselves.
Located in Hardee County, Florida, Seminole’s new solar facility is comprised of more than 8,000 solar photovoltaic (PV) panels which rotate throughout the day to follow the movement of the sun. The facility can produce a total output of 2.2 megawatts, which has been allocated to Seminole’s nine member cooperatives. SVEC has been allocated 72 kilowatts of the solar farm’s output, divided into 144 “blocks” of 0.5 kilowatts each. Members who have subscribed to SVEC’s blocks receive a monthly offset to their electricity consumption equal to the amount of power generated by their blocks.

The waiting list to participate in SVEC’s Cooperative Solar program is currently closed. We hope to offer additional blocks of Cooperative Solar energy in the future.
