Suwannee Valley Electric Cooperative (SVEC) in Live Oak, Fla. is looking for two ambitious individuals who would like to pursue a career as a lineworker. To help accomplish that career goal, SVEC will sponsor three scholarships to the Northwest Lineman College in Edgewater, Florida, for their 15-week Electrical Lineworker Program, beginning January 2023. This scholarship will cover course work, tools and the recipients’ living expenses for the duration of the program. Upon successful completion of the NLC program, the scholarship recipients will receive an employment offer from SVEC for a full-time Apprentice Lineworker position.
This opportunity is for a scholarship to Northwest Lineman College and does not guarantee employment with Suwannee Valley Electric Cooperative. The selected scholarship recipients will be enrolled in NLC’s 15-week Electrical Lineworker Program, which runs from January 2023 to April 2023.
The expenses that SVEC will cover include tuition, rooming expenses, tools, and a small weekly meal stipend. The scholarship recipient will be responsible for all other expenses incurred during the training course.
SVEC Employment Opportunity
After completion of the 15-week program, assuming the recipient passes all course work satisfactorily and accepts SVEC’s employment offer, the recipient will continue with NLC’s Lineworker Apprentice Program for the next three years. SVEC will cover the costs of that additional training.
If the Scholarship Recipient fails to complete the 15-week NLC program, he or she will not be eligible for SVEC employment.
