Contribution-in-Aid-of-Construction (CIAC) for Line Extensions
SVEC STAKING ENGINEER Will DETERMINE A MEMBER’s CIAC COST (IF ANY) FOR LINE EXTENSIONS. (Extensions will be from the nearest existing line along road or existing right-of-way.)
Service to a permanent residence: the Cooperative will extend its Overhead facilities up to 1,200 feet at no cost to the applicant; for Underground facilities the applicant will pay to Cooperative the cost difference between Overhead and Underground facilities up to 1,200; for extensions greater than 1,200 feet the applicant will pay the Cooperative 100 percent of the cost associated to facilities greater than 1,200 feet.
For other service: the Cooperative will credit to the applicant three times the annual expected revenue(demand and energy) less expected wholesale power cost associated to applicant’s proposed service. The credit will be applied to the job cost estimate. There is no cost to the applicant, when the credit exceeds the job cost.
Temporary service: the applicant is required to pay the Cooperative for the cost of installation labor, removal labor, and non-salvageable materials necessary to provide temporary service.
Member Request: When , at the member’s request, a line extension route is not economical for SVEC, the member shall pay 100% of the cost ( excluding cost of OH transformer and meter). Any exemption will be forfeited by the member in these cases.
Line extension costs: All payments to the Cooperative for the cost of service are required to be made in full prior to construction of service.
NOTE: The 1200ft. allowance is for overhead single phase primary residential services only. Commercial line extensions, services to barns, shops, airplane hangars, non-residential pumps, etc. do not receive this allowance. The line extension costs are calculated after the SVEC staking engineer has determined the route of the line extension. Relocation costs are also based on the calculated cost of the job.
