Take charge of your electricity costs by enrolling in MyChoice, our pay-as-you-go plan that lets you pay for the amount of electricity you want, when you want it.
Instead of receiving monthly bills, the balance in your account is charged for usage daily.
Frequently Asked Questions
How Does MyChoice Work?
With MyChoice, you can purchase your electricity before you use it. Think of prepaid service as putting gas in your car. You could purchase small amounts every few days or “fill up the tank” and not worry about it for a week or two. When your supply is low, you simply purchase more.
Your electric usage is calculated daily, and when the credits in your account are running low, we will contact you via text message, email, or phone to let you know it’s time for you to “refill” your account. Payments can be made 24/7. Payments can also be made through the mail and in person.
What Are The Benefits Of Enrolling?
- More payment flexibility — pay in advance how much and how often as is convenient
- No due dates
- No shut-off notices
- No late payment penalties
- No reconnect fees
- Existing security deposits can be utilized to pay for current unbilled usage. Any remainder is then used for future power purchases.
Who Qualifies For Mychoice?
Most residential accounts are eligible to enroll in MyChoice.
How Much Do I Need To Get Started?
Existing members — A $25 deposit, $25 credit balance, and $35 administrative fee are required to start a MyChoice account.
New members — A $25 deposit, $25 credit balance, $35 administrative fee, and a $5 membership fee are required to start a MyChoice account.
What If I Owe Money?
Should existing security deposits be insufficient to cover current balances, the remainder is set up as a long term debt. Half of all ensuing purchases are applied to this debt until it is satisfied.
How Much Money Should I Keep In My Prepaid Account?
It’s up to you! Buy energy to last for a few days or several months!
What If My Account Runs Low?
MyChoice is a self-managed program. You will receive a low-balance notice by email and telephone based on the number of days of usage you have remaining. This will give you time to purchase power before the meter actually stops.
If you do not purchase more power, the meter will stop and the power will turn off. Once a payment is made, your power will be reconnected. After 5 days in a disconnected status, your MyChoice account will be closed out.
What If My Service Is Disconnected?
Accounts that are disconnected for non-payment still are eligible to enroll in MyChoice. Any deposit is applied to your account balance. The remaining credit will be used for future purchase of power or any remaining balance due can be set up on a long term debt agreement. However, a $25 credit is still required to start a MyChoice account.
