SVEC’s commitment to advancing the Suwannee Valley community extends well beyond its day-to-day business operations. SVEC invests in community service, youth and economic development.
Investment in Community Service
One of SVEC’s five core values is Outreach to Community. Accordingly, SVEC sponsors and participates in community events and makes financial contributions to a wide variety of organizations that serve the residents of the Suwannee Valley.
SVEC employees repeatedly demonstrate their generosity through giving activities that benefit people in need. This spring, employees raised $5,630 for United Way of Suwannee Valley, which earned a matching grant of $5,000 from CoBank.
Investment in Youth
SVEC believes that the prospects for the county’s future lie with today’s youth. Therefore, SVEC annually:
Awards 10 college scholarships to students from five area high schools
Sponsors eight juniors from area high schools to participate in a tour of Florida’s state capital
Sponsors two juniors from area high schools to participate in the Rural Electric Youth Tour of the U.S. capital
Investment in Economic Growth
Economic development and growth are keys to advancing the quality of life in the Suwannee Valley. Accordingly, SVEC works with state and local governments and organizations such as the chambers of commerce and economic development offices in SVEC’s four county area to support the expansion of existing businesses and attract new prospects to the area.
