SVEC Board of Directors has established a scholarship fund to support dependent children of our members. This spring, SVEC will award ten $1,000 scholarships to high school seniors from throughout SVEC’s service territory.
To be eligible for a scholarship, the student must be graduating in spring 2018 from a public high school, home school, private school or charter school in SVEC’s service territory, have a cumulative high school GPA of at least 3.50, and plan to attend an accredited post-secondary or vocational educational institution this fall. The student must also be a dependent of an SVEC member, but cannot be a child or grandchild of a current SVEC employee or trustee.
A committee established by SVEC will review all scholarship applications and recommend scholarship recipients to the SVEC Board of Trustees for approval. Students will be recommended for a scholarship based on their cumulative high school GPA, the quality of their extracurricular, church, community, civic, work and/or volunteer activities, two letters of recommendation, and a 250-500 word essay they submit on why they want to continue their education and how this scholarship will help them do so. Additional weight and consideration will be given based on financial need.
Application packets can be obtained from high school counselors or by clicking on the “download” button below. The completed and signed application form (and all attachments thereto) and the essay must be received by SVEC by 5:00 p.m., March 30, 2018. All required items can be e-mailed to email@example.com; hand delivered to our office at 11340 100th Street, Live Oak; or mailed to SVEC Scholarship, c/o Suwannee Valley Electric Cooperative, PO Box 160, Live Oak, FL 32064.
