First County Reaches 95% Restored as Work Continues

Power has been restored to over 23,000 (80%) Suwannee Valley Electric Cooperative (SVEC) consumer-members, and a full complement of 1,482 workers are in the field again today. Sleeping, food, laundry and shower accommodations are being provided to visiting workers at the base camp established on SVEC’s Live Oak Campus.

All SVEC substations have transmission services, and all distribution feeders have been energized, allowing workers to focus on smaller tap lines and individual services.

SVEC achieved its goal of restoring power to 95% of its consumer-members in Lafayette County by 11:59 p.m. last night (now 96.3%). The co-op is also on pace to achieve its goals of restoring power to 95% of members in its other counties by the following times:

• Columbia – 11:59 p.m. tonight, Oct. 1.
• Hamilton – 11:59 p.m. Wednesday, Oct. 2.
• Suwannee – 11:59 p.m. Thursday, Oct. 3.

These times take into account the storm’s damage to the co-op’s electric system and the number of consumer-members in each county. Damage to member-owned electrical equipment may delay restoration for some.
