Suwannee Valley Electric Cooperative donates $11,027 to United Way

For the second year in a row, Suwannee Valley Electric Cooperative (SVEC) has contributed $5,000 to United Way of Suwannee Valley through the efforts of its employees and a matching grant from CoBank.  SVEC qualified for CoBank’s $5,000 grant by raising $6,027 for the United Way during the cooperative’s annual employee giving campaign.

The grant money will go to the local United Way’s general community fundraising campaign fund, the source of funding for the safety net services provided by United Way of Suwannee Valley affiliated agencies. “United Way fights for the health, education, and financial stability of every person in every community,” stated Rita Dopp, executive director, United Way of Suwannee Valley. “Change doesn’t happen alone.”

Community fundraising campaign funds are allocated to affiliated agencies through a citizen review panel process which assesses agency financial needs and program outcomes. “United Way affiliated agencies provide necessary services assisting all segments of our community and addressing a range of issues,” said Dopp. “It is the role of the Allocations Committee to ensure every dollar is invested for the best possible community outcomes.”

“SVEC has a deep concern for the wellbeing of others in our community,” said the cooperative’s CEO, Michael McWaters. “Every year, our employees make generous contributions to the United Way through a variety of fundraising activities.”

“Our local United Way appreciates the relationship it has with SVEC,” said Chris Dampier, president, United Way Board of Directors.  “SVEC employees conduct a tremendous United Way campaign.  To be able to secure matching funds from CoBank is just another bonus for the benefit of our community residents in need of services made available as a result of financial support provided through the community fundraising campaign.”
