Signs and other materials on utility poles are more than just an unpleasant eyesore; they can be dangerous — even life-threatening — to our linemen. SVEC asks everyone to help keep utility poles free of such materials.

When Suwannee Valley Electric Cooperative came to be, the task of building the first electric lines in this region fell to a handful of ordinary people willing to install poles and run wire so their neighbors could have electricity.

Sidney Lord represents District 5, most of which is located southwest of Live Oak between State Road 51 and Highway 129 in Suwannee County. Lord has served on the SVEC board since 1999. He and his wife, Pat, live in Suwannee County and have two grown children and eight grandchildren.
