Crews from Suwannee Valley Electric Cooperative (SVEC) have been joined by several crews from mutual-aid cooperatives and contractors, with the goal of restoring power to 80% of consumers by 10:00 p.m. tonight. Limbs broken by the weight of ice have been the main cause of outages caused by the winter storm.
We are currently placing extra focus on restoring outages that are affecting relatively large numbers of consumers. While we hope to get as many people as possible back on by 10:00 p.m., we recommend that those with health issues or who are for other reasons more vulnerable to cold, make plans to spend the night with a friend or family member who has power.
