At 12:18 p.m. this afternoon, Suwannee Valley Electric Cooperative (SVEC) completed restoration of service to its consumers who lost power due to Hurricane Michael.
“We have a lot to be thankful for in the Suwannee Valley,” said SVEC CEO Michael McWaters. “Our thoughts and prayers are with our friends in the Panhandle who are suffering so much more from this storm.”
In 24 hours, crews from SVEC, mutual-aid cooperatives and contractors safely restored 228 outages. The highest number consumers out during any 15-minute period was 4,055 from 6:45 to 7:00 p.m. yesterday.
“I wish to thank all our employees for their dedication and hard work,” said McWaters. “I am also grateful to our regular contractors Bryant Tree Service and Musgrove Construction; and our fellow cooperatives Glades Electric Cooperative and Powell Valley Electric Cooperative, for their help restoring power. Last, but not least, I’m thankful for our members’ understanding and support.”
Glades Electric Cooperative is based in Moore Haven, Florida. Powell Valley Electric Cooperative serves members in Tennessee and Virginia.
