Suwannee Valley Electric Cooperative Is Prepared for Hurricane Dorian

Suwannee Valley Electric Cooperative (SVEC) has activated its Emergency Response Plan in anticipation of potentially severe weather from Hurricane Dorian.

“We’ve incorporated lessons learned from previous storms into our plan, and every employee is ready to fulfill their role in meeting the needs of our consumer-members,” said SVEC’s CEO, Michael McWaters. “We continue to monitor forecasts from multiple weather services, and electric co-ops from outside of our area are standing by to help us if we need them.”

While it appears likely that SVEC will be spared the brunt of the hurricane, the National Weather Service in Jacksonville reports that wind gusts of 20 to 25 miles per hour are possible in our area throughout the day tomorrow. Gusts of that intensity could cause power outages.

SVEC wishes to remind its consumer-members that outages can be quickly and conveniently reported via smart phone or other mobile device using the cooperative’s SmartHub account management tool, available at svecsmarthub.com. Outages can also be reported by calling 800-752-0025.
