Suwannee Valley Electric Preparing for Hurricane Irma

Suwannee Valley Electric Cooperative (SVEC) has activated its Emergency Response Plan in anticipation of potentially severe weather from Hurricane Irma. “We’ve incorporated lessons learned from Hurricane Hermine into our plan, and every employee is ready to fulfill their role in meeting the needs of our members,” said SVEC’s CEO, Michael McWaters.

In accordance with the plan, SVEC is prepared to respond to possible outages with 14 of its own line and right-of-way crews, and three contractor crews. If needed, crews from other electric cooperatives will also be available to help.

SVEC would like to remind its members that outages can be quickly and conveniently reported using SVEC’s SmartHub tool. Those who wish to report and track outages from their smartphone or other mobile device can download the SmartHub mobile app from the Apple App Store or Google Play.
