“We don’t know the full extent of the damage done to our system,” says SVEC, CEO Michael McWaters, “but crews are already in the field assessing the situation.”
For everyone’s safety, PLEASE stay away from downed power lines and do not attempt to remove branches or other vegetation from downed power lines.
SVEC’s procedure is to restore service to the most people in the least amount of time. If needed, substations are repaired first, followed by distribution lines that feed large groups of people such as entire neighborhoods. Smaller tap lines and individual service lines are then repaired to restore power to members who may still be without electricity.
