Welcome!

Calvin and Kolby were SVEC’s two lineworker scholarship recipients and completed their schooling through Northwest Lineman College in early April. Cody Blackburn is also a Northwest Lineman College alumnus and is joining us after working for Musgrove Construction.

Megan Hollis joined the co-op April 20 as apprentice dispatcher.

Happy Retirement

Spring marked the end of a long career for three co-op employees. Kirk Head retired April 29 after serving as a staking engineer for 39 years. At his request, the co-op celebrated his last day with breakfast biscuits from Chick-fil-A. Russell Summers and Cecil Cheshire retired May 9 after 42 and 30 years of service as lineworkers. A retirement luncheon for both men was held in the Ops warehouse. We are thankful to them, and to their families, for their many years of commitment.

Board Changes

Bill Hart, trustee for district 9, stepped down in May after serving on the board for 33 years. A luncheon was held to celebrate his service. We appreciate Mr. Hart’s many years as trustee. Francene Folsom, Bill Hart’s daughter, was elected to be the new trustee for District 9. Ms. Folsom retired from the Lafayette County School System in 2020 after teaching various grade levels for 32 years and has served on SVEC’s Operation Round Up Board.
